Back to Reality

Summer was bliss.

Now we’re back to life. Back to busy.
Back to school – grade 7, grade 5 and grade 1.
Back to work.
Hockey. Dance. Gymnastics.

I’m excited for the things to come.
Sweater weather. A couple of birthdays.

And only 14 Saturdays until Christmas!


How did we get to March?

It’s March 5, 2013.
I don’t know where the beginning of the year went.
Actually I do. Time has been in short supply.
The beginning of the year found me working for the first time in 12 years.
The week after I started my new job found me loaded with a head cold that last for over 6 weeks that ended with a sinus infection.
A week ago found me the proud owner of a dog (HUH??).
The worst stomach bug I’ve ever had found me last Friday.

Life has been stressful to say the least. The optimism that I felt in January is waning.
It’s not all bad.  I have some exciting news that I will be posting on UrbanMoms very soon! And no – I am not pregnant.

Stay tuned.

(But god knows how long before I’m back on here…)

Day 2 and 3

Day 2 – yesterday was kind of a bust. We took the kids to our friends for a swim and I did a couple of laps. Treaded water for a bit.  Lame.

Day 3 – today was better.
Every Monday I drop Eva off at the local rec centre with my dad and he takes her swimming while I run around doing errands.
I realized that I wasn’t taking advantage of this great opportunity for exercise.
Today I took her to the pool, handed her off to my dad and I hopped into the lap pool.

I did laps for 30 minutes before Eva called me over to come into the play pool with her and Granda.
Wow – I felt incredibly out of shape going back and forth.
I did enjoy the burn in my legs, arms and shoulders. It was a good workout.

Busy day tomorrow. I need to think of a way to fit some fitness in.


It is so much fucking harder than I thought it would be.



Currently it is 11:58pm and I am wide awake.

My plan was to take a melatonin pill and head to bed at 10.  I came on here around 9 to revisit this site that I own and suddenly it was midnight.


Last night I was up until after 2am.  Wide awake.
It has to stop.  I can’t keep running on this little sleep.  It’s fine right now.  We can have pyjama days until the kids go back to school. That’s ok but let’s be honest – pyjama day just a nice way of saying my kids have a lazy mom.

I will have to figure out a more effective sleep schedule for 2012.

That’s a goal I have.  Better sleep.  That will lead to better health.
